As a Junior Python Backend Developer, you will deliver well-scoped backend features while growing into a strong engineer on a technically demanding platform. You will work with mentorship across APIs, services, database integrations, and automated tests. You will build reference data management, configuration surfaces, lookup and search services, and administrative functions. Your work will include implementing REST endpoints, writing and verifying SQL, using ORM sessions and transactions, creating data loaders and operational scripts, and investigating defects in your areas. Success in this role means delivering reliable, well-tested code that follows established patterns, working effectively from specifications, and steadily becoming more independent in navigating the codebase and solving backend problems.
- 1–5 years of professional experience developing backend applications in Python - Practical experience building REST APIs with a web framework such as FastAPI, Flask, or Django - Working knowledge of PostgreSQL and SQL development, including the practical implications of transaction guarantees - Experience with ORM-based database integration, including mappings, sessions, and transaction usage - Ability to write automated tests for backend code and verify delivered features - Experience using Git and participating in a code-review workflow - Ability to navigate an unfamiliar codebase, work from a specification, and investigate defects by reproducing and isolating issues - Ability to work collaboratively, take accountability for delivered work, and learn from feedback
